Problem
Many people may think that finance is always difficult and unclear. It also may be challenging to stay motivated to save money and not lose interest. However the main problem is trust and security because users may hesitate to input sensitive financial information into the app.Goal
Create an application that will inspire security and trust, so all data can be easily understood and interpreted. Create a feeling among users that finance is easy, and also apply gamification elements so that users are more motivated to use the application.User story
After my quick research, I developed three user stories that were a guide for me and helped me form priorities. I concentrated on the screens where all the important information would be presented clearly and understandable and on adding a new goal (one of the main features of the app).
- As a user, I want to see an overview of how much my finances have changed and how much I am saving throughout the saving period, so that I can stay on track.
- As a user, I want to see a dashboard of my finances clearly and visually, so that I can see how much I am spending on what at a glance.
- As a user, I need to be able to tell the tool what my savings goal is and how long I have to reach it, so that I can save accordingly.
User Flow
I created a user flow where I presented the user’s path of creating a new goal.
Mid-Fi Wireframes
After I formed priorities based on the problem, user stories, and understanding of how the user will move through my application, I created wireframes.
Color palette
I used purple color because it is often associated with wealth and prosperity so it can evoke in my app a sense of financial success and empowerment. The color is known to have a calming and soothing effect on the mind, so that users may feel more relaxed and at ease when managing their finances, reducing stress and anxiety.
Logo
The letter “M” symbolizes a bar chart, and at the top there is a curve going up and connecting the letters “M” and “I”.
Typography
Iconography
The icons are simple, rounded, and friendly which will create trust among users.
Usability test
I wanted to test how easy it was to create an account. I also wanted to understand how easy it is to understand the information on the dashboard. I also wanted to test the screen with goals and see what could be improved for a better screen experience.

Key takeaways
Key takeaways
What I learned
I learned how to present complex financial information in a user-friendly way and how to use data visualization techniques (graphs, dashboards, etc.).- I practiced using gamification elements to motivate users to set and achieve their goals.
Next steps
An AI feature can be used to track the expenses. It can analyze them and based on the results give users advice on where to cut costs and how to manage a budget more appropriately.
